On May 1, 1965, Friendship Manor opened it’s doors to the public. The facility was originally owned by Friendship Homes Inc., a group originating in North Dakota, then branching out to South Dakota and finally Minnesota. Friendship Homes Inc. was owned by G.L., George, and Gordan Riffe. Gordan Riffe became the original administrator of the Minnesota location, Friendship Manor, along with his wife Betty and his sons.
Friendship Manor was a family business from the start with two of the Riffe sons working week ends while going to school. In 1979 the three Riffe sons, purchased the facility from the Corporation. Tim Riffe, became the Administrator, with all of his family having been involved in the facility as well.
All of the original owners have since passed, but Tim’s wife Mary, has continued the family involvement as it’s current owner.
This attitude of family carries over to the staff as well. Currently thirty five of the staff have been here over ten years, nine of them for over twenty five years! In fact, the first employee ever hired is still here working some 50 years later!
“We have been very fortunate to have had so many families place their trust in us to care for their loved ones. We have met many wonderful residents and their family members. Without that trust we would never have been in business for over 50 years!”
- Tim Riffe
